Academic Tutorial Services - Our Services
HTA provides academic tutorial services for all disciplines in addition to a variety of other services relating to test taking, study skills and SAT preparations.
• Private Tutoring
Private Tutoring is available for all subjects, all grade levels, pre-school through college. Tutoring can be done in the student’s home, the tutor’s home, or another convenient location.
($60/hr) Group tutoring is available upon request at a reduced rate. A one time initial processing fee of $50 is required for all new students.
• Study Skills
From 8-hour workshops to extended summer courses, our study skills curriculum is offered throughout the year in a private or group setting. Organization, learning styles, goal setting, note taking, listening skills, reading comprehension, test taking, and other related skills are covered. Learn more here >>
• Note Taking and Test Taking
Workshops focusing on a specific areas such as note taking, test taking or reading comprehension are available and can be structured based upon the needs of the students. These workshops are most effective once a student has completed the HTA Study Skills Course. These workshops are available throughout the year but serve as a great back-to school boost.
• SAT/ACT
SAT/ACT private prep is offered throughout the year. Sessions include a thorough review of the math, verbal reasoning and essay sections found on the tests, plus a general test overview and strategy. It is recommended that students have a baseline score to work from and if there is none, a proctored full diagnostic exam will be administered prior to beginning private sessions. Schedules will be established based on the individual’s needs and availability. All SAT/ACT tutoring will require the student to purchase necessary course prep materials and workbooks.
• TAKS /ISEE Test Preparation
TAKS and ISEE test private sessions are available year round. Sessions cover TAKS strategies, parent assistance, and sample testing for the TAKS.
• Writing Workshops and College Prep
HTA offers a variety of writing workshops on an individual and group basis for middle and upper school students. If a student is a Junior or Senior in high school, we provide assistance with college essays and entrance applications.

Individual Attention
Giving a student individual attention mean more than one-on-one sessions. We work directly with classroom teachers, administrators, parents, psychologists, special educators, and other persons concerned with the student’s learning needs.
Flexibility
Houston Tutorial tutors and teachers can work flexible schedules to fit the students’ active lifestyles. Tutoring can be conducted at schools or the library, in the student’s home, or in the tutor’s home, depending on the convenience and the student’s needs. There is no minimum or maximum number of sessions required.
